SVP - Capital Planning GPO (RWA Forecasting)

Our client operates in the Financial sector, with its headquarters rooted strongly in the United States. It has its branches spread to more than 160 countries, providing employment to more than 200k people all over the world. They fall in the Top 15 largest Banks in the United States. Its core business is to provide various Banking and Financial services to its clients. It is known to have one of the biggest balance sheet banks in the world (among others) aiding it to offer 360-degree financial services to its clients.

Responsibilities::

• Research the business problem, related issues and then develop and socialize solutions and improvements with all the relevant partners and seniors (including all key requirements and constraints).
• Understand the current state, design and create the lead business view of the new target states and long term operating models (people, process, systems) for the most critical Capital Planning processes (Capital Ratios, GCIB, RWA etc.).
• Drive process, control and technology improvements for Capital Planning processes with the goal of reducing manual processes and improving the control environment.
• Responsible for control and completion of specified projects ensuring consistency with project management governance.
• Participates in formulating and setting direction for process and business architecture being changed.
• Accountable for credible evaluation of methodologies, results, governance and processes related to capital planning and contribution to future strategy of the overall approach to capital planning review and challenge.
• Use business proof of concepts (e.g. utilizing excel, diagrams, etc.) to analyze and identify deficiencies in current process and to design enhancements and proposals.
• Present outcome of proof of concepts, in partnership with SMEs, to senior leaders to get sponsorship for solutions.
• Acts as an end to end SME on individually owned initiatives and work streams for holistic capital planning process. Be a fast learner on each new initiative and project by reaching out and gathering all the facts.
• Manage matrix teams and partners across multiple initiatives.
• Be able to identify material variances and their drivers at the individual and total Business levels.
• Partner in investment / budget estimation for new solutions. Create business case for chosen solutions and present to senior leadership to request budget. Finalize requirements for chosen solutions for technology development.
• Plan and execute upon the agreed upon tactical as well as strategic road map of each initiative to drive the results, improvements, innovations and transformations.
• Own and drive the new solutions, designs and build (the manual and automated portions) with the partners, the ultimate development of new capabilities and the aggregation, reporting and visualization of the results.
• Conduct oversight as to any errors, manual interventions and tests on data quality, data tracing, manual adjustments and entries for logic and reasonableness.
• Develop, resolve and closely monitor execution of any regulatory, audit or self-identified control issues.
• Own the delivery of remediation activities against Regulatory Reporting issues committed to partners, IA and/or Regulators as the case may be.
• Emphasize improvements, with a business lens, that ultimately help solve big problems, streamline global processes, reuse existing infrastructure, improve timeliness, automate information flows, leverage latest technologies, eliminate large redundant steps, reconciliations and multiple manual touch points.
• Surface any new capital planning or digital innovation opportunities identified in the businesses and functions during the course of own analysis and research of the current processes.
• Build strong partner relationships with other counterparts across the organization.
• Drive and lead discussions with management and stakeholders on all the owned initiatives.
• Create project plans and manage project execution in partnership with SMEs from finance, business, technology and operations.
• Manage governance of projects and provide regular updates to Capital Planning leadership team.
• Present in groups meetings and contribute to best-in-class thought-leadership.
• Maintain written documentation of projects, processes and procedures related to preparing and filing any reports, for senior management communications and/or in case of an audit requirement.
• Provide related training to counterparts across the organization in the area of expertise.
• Continuously improve own expertise of the capital planning domain to be a trusted advisor in the area.
• Drive planning and execution to meet strategic objectives of regulatory transformation programs around report automation, strategic consumption, EUC remediation, and other funded programs as identified

Requirements::

• This is a highly strategic and business critical regulatory role that will provide significant exposure to senior management, and will partner extensively with colleagues across Finance, Technology, Operations; other 2nd line of defense functions including Risk Management and IA; and lines of businesses.
• The body of work involves an agenda for transformational change and complex re-engineering across multiple areas as opposed to bau.
• Consequently, each project, subject matter area or problem that will manifest would be different, resulting into an ever changing variety of interesting efforts and challenges.
• Position provides a unique vantage point to gain a firm-wide perspective across all businesses (ICG, CCB and Consumer), scenarios and methodologies (e.g. Standard, Advanced, COVID-19) and risks (credit, market, liquidity, strategic and reputational).
• The candidate has a unique opportunity to gain a broad understanding of many key facets of capital planning and stress continuum, including how it is done in a large globally systemic financial institution.
