Chief Executive Officer - Steel Industry

Our client is a long-established industrial group founded by visionary promoters in the mid-1980s and has grown into one of the most respected diversified enterprises in its region. The business began with a strong foothold in construction and later expanded into iron and steel production, mining and alumina operations, and food and agro processing. It operates modern facilities for manufacturing TMT bars, flour milling, rice processing, and calcined bauxite, supported by its own mining assets. With a turnover exceeding ₹4,000 crore and a workforce of more than 3,500 employees, the group continues to scale its operations year after year. Its sustained momentum is powered by strategic decision-making and a strong commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities: 

Strategic & Financial Leadership

• Identify growth avenues including capacity expansion, new product lines (TMT grades, wire rods, structural steel), and new geographies.
• Lead annual business planning and budgeting in alignment with the Board’s goals.

Operational Excellence

• Oversee end-to-end plant operations including melting, rolling mill operations, quality control, logistics, and dispatch.
• Drive productivity improvements, yield optimisation, and equipment uptime using best industry practices.
• Ensure strict adherence to quality standards such as BIS norms for TMT bars (Fe500D, Fe550D, etc.).
• Implement safety, statutory compliance, and sustainability practices across all units.

Budgeting, Forecasting

• Develop and implement long-term strategic plans aligned with the company’s vision and market opportunities.
• Monitor production cost elements (raw material sourcing, power & fuel, conversion costs) and lead cost-reduction initiatives.

Commercial & Market Leadership

• Maintain strong relationships with key customers, vendors, and industry stakeholders.
• Build and mentor a high-performing leadership team across production, quality, finance, HR, and marketing.
• Foster a culture of discipline, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to all statutory, environmental, and safety regulations related to steel manufacturing.

Requirements:

• B.Tech/B.E. in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.
• 20+ years in steel/TMT bar manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership/CEO/COO role.
