Job description

Responsibilities:


You are expected to be able to perform the following:


  • Review operations of process catalysts by monitoring key performance indicators which include but not limited to product yields, deactivation rates, remaining lifecycle, etc. Issue quarterly performance and benchmarking reports highlighting optimization achievements, performance gaps and recommendations.
  • Support process technology engineers in resolving any catalysts and absorbents performance gaps and implementation of optimization initiatives.
  • Conduct yearly benchmarking workshops with participating Global Manufacturing facilities to highlight the year-round performances, share best practices, agree on catalyst optimization and profitability targets, and recognize facility best performers.
  • Maintain an inventory of Global Manufacturing catalysts and absorbents detailing the technology providers, quantity, next loading forecasts, etc.
  • Support and facilitate potential similar catalysts inventory exchange/synergy among Global Manufacturing facilities. Develop and/or support needed contractual agreements, as needed.
  • Represent the admin area in refining catalyst selection and evaluation by representing the needs of the business line according to established company procedures.
  • Support and coordinate with other internal stakeholders when necessary on the requirements to conduct the regular catalyst pilot testing activities.
  • Acts with Global Manufacturing refineries in the negotiation and acceptance of catalysts and adsorbents vendor performance guarantees.
  • Involvement in the performance test runs to validate vendor’s Proforma Performance Guarantees.
  • Manage and facilitate the spent catalyst handling and precious metals reclamation (platinum and rhenium-based) activities in Global Manufacturing. Develop and maintain the procedures accordingly.
  • Act as the admin area focal point in providing coordination and process engineering support on corporate catalyst strategies and related transactions.
  • Provide field support to catalyst related activities such as loading & unloading, regeneration & rejuvenation, pre-sulfiding & activation, process optimization, and troubleshooting, as needed, in collaboration with facility process engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the pilot testing or field demonstration of commercial catalysts and in-house developed catalysts in facilities in collaboration with R&D and other corporate technical entities.
  • Lead contract cost optimization initiatives surrounding fresh catalyst procurement, spent catalyst handling, re-use, and metal reclamation.


Requirements:


  • As the successful candidate you will hold a bachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering from a recognized and approved program. 
  • An advanced degree with specialization in catalysis is preferred.
  • You will have a minimum of seventeen years of experience in refining and petrochemical catalyst and absorbents application, and practical experience in supporting or operating catalytic processes (i.e. hydroprocessing, reforming, catalytic cracking, etc.) with at least 5 years’ experience in oil refinery or petrochemicals plants.
  • Exposure to different technology licensors is a plus.
  • You will have experience using process engineering simulation programs
  • You will be able to demonstrate very good command of spoken and written English
