Onshore Geotechnical Engineer

Our Client operates in the Oil and Energy industry, with its headquarters rooted strongly in Saudi Arabia. They are one of the world’s largest oil producers. They are constantly growing by creating new technologies through its Research and Development efforts and branch into new business lines through Investments and Acquisitions.

Responsibilities: 

• Review and revision of capital projects and introducing qualified nonmetallic products in the engineering design packages, including; water plants, gas plants, GOSPs, and terminals. Attend project review meetings in Kingdom as needed.
• Strength in offering geo-intelligence solutions for mega construction, infrastructure, and natural resources.
• Lead or be a team member in specialized tasks, such as incident investigation teams, special audit teams, organizational improvement teams, etc.
• Conduct analysis and design of onshore geotechnical matters using geotechnical analysis software such as Plaxis, Slope W, Apile.
• Develop and interpret code and standard requirements for onshore geotechnical designs.
• Assess and carry out full geotechnical analysis, including bearing capacity, settlements, liquefaction, piles, soil improvement, excavation design, etc.
• Develop new specifications and update existing standards, procedures and best practices. Lead value engineering sessions for onshore geotechnical and update accordingly. 
• Serve on international standards writing bodies as the opportunity allows.
• Conduct Vendor technical assessments for geotechnical related matters and commodities.
• Conduct technical foundations inspections and assessments of existing structures.
• Support ongoing Innovation/Technology programs and strategic initiatives.
• Assess new and emerging technologies for civil/geotechnical applications.
• Act as a professional mentor providing training courses to develop geotechnical engineers and specialists.
• Publish technical papers in refereed journals and international conferences.
• Forensic engineering studies to evaluate risk of existing sinkholes situation and feasibility of optimum treatment at various cases.
• Forensic engineering studies to evaluate problems in relation to settlements, slope failure, investigations, sand movement mitigations, foundations selections.

Requirements: 

• Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering. Master’s Degree is a plus.
• Professional Engineering or Chartered Engineering Certification.
• Minimum ten (10) years of professional engineering design experience within the oil and gas industry.
• Familiarity with ASTM, BS and other geotechnical design standards.
• Strong consulting experience: root cause analysis, trouble shooting, problem solving.
• Excellent knowledge in advance geotechnical investigation, geophysical surveys including microgravity surveys, resistivity surveys, advanced laboratory testing and soil parameter estimation.
• Knowledge in International Engineering Standards and Material Specifications, including experience in participating and developing Engineering Standards for onshore geotechnical.
• Good experience in the oil and gas industry. Affiliation with professional societies is highly desirable.
• Good presenter, high convincing ability, good technical report and paper writing skills, and ability to mentor and teach nonmetallic courses to engineers.
• Proficient in geotechnical engineering design software (Plaxis, Slope W, Apile)
