Job description

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for our client employees payroll, this includes: US, Puerto Rico, Mexicali & Mexico GBS center, accounting, payroll tax compliance and record-keeping activities of Payroll, to include the related Health Care Benefits Programs, Pension Plans, Savings and Investment Plans, and employee elected deductions.
  • Manages all associated payroll activities for our client Legal Entities, in addition to Successfactors time administration, tax funding, 404 controls, W-2/W-2C processing, 50+ account reconciliations, Dayforce data imports and exports, banking, wage assignment and garnishment administration, Payroll general ledger postings, and contract adherence.
  • Directs team to insure timely and accurate payroll processing and reconciling, in compliance with all collective bargaining agreements for hourly and salaried, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payrolls. Responsible for producing, distributing and insuring the accuracy of all pay documents and supporting records for all employees in compliance with strict payroll timetables.
  • Provides oversight to insure payroll system configuration is accurate, system upgrades are managed, imports and exports are successfully loaded without error and in their entirety, and that users are able to complete all required system transactions. Insure proper security access exists with segregation of duties.
  • Manages team for SuccessFactors time administration with accurate quota balances, time system support and reporting requirements are completed.
  • Supports the team to insure all payroll, tax and benefit funding is accurate and timely, and associated balance sheet accounts are balanced, in compliance with Account Reconciliation Policy, and that aged reconciling items are resolved timely, insuring integrity of our client financial records.
  • Insures 404 compliance, that strong internal controls exist and that all 404 deadlines are adhered to.
  • Directs the Payroll Compliance team for all required Tax, Wage Assignments and Garnishments. Provides oversight to the year-end W-2 and W-2C processing with compliance to IRS regulations and deadlines.
  • Insures overpayments are identified, reported timely, and processed accurately, escheatment administration is conducted, 3rd party vendor payments are accurate and correct key employee reporting exists.
  • Incumbent reviews current procedures and proposes new methods for improving efficiency and effectiveness of the team, without impact to controls. Collaborates to implement new benefit plans, CBA requirements, Federal, State and Local regulations, etc.
  • Insures staff is properly trained to perform assigned responsibilities effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Executes employee talent management programs for direct and in-direct reports.


Requirements: 


  • Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of accounting and/or payroll experience in the US and demonstrated ability to lead new functions.
  • Must also have managerial ability and a working knowledge of US & Mexico laws pertaining to wage assignments, garnishments, income tax levies, labor laws, FLSA, etc.
  • A thorough knowledge and application of relevant salary and personnel policies and benefits coverage is beneficial.
  • Must be flexible, innovative, accurate and possess the ability to make quick decisions.
  • Incumbent must be sensitive to employee issues, safeguard all payroll/benefit and HR information with the utmost of confidentiality.
  • Position requires attention to detail, supervisory and communication skills, and the ability to work across multiple, and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
