Product Design Engineer

Our client is a US based MNC and a leader in manufacturer of electronic, electrical, and fiber optic connectivity systems. They offer over 100,000 products across a variety of industries, including data communications, medical, industrial, automotive and consumer electronics. It is considered the second largest electronic connector company in the world.

Responsibilities:

• A Quick and Quality product development (By Bridging & Independent handling)
• Work out the whole mfg./process strategy, DFM along with plant ME team both at component/process level and integration level.
• Along with ME team, study design at the beginning of the project, analyze the risk of whole project, and support the team to avoid and solve the risk. 
• Organize the product design review with manufacture Engineers to provide manufacturing key points to PD and PM, including molding, die, plating and assembly, to make sure the manufacturing feasibility of the product design.
• New Product knowledge share to plant and Mfg. knowledge share to Engineering groups.
• Support quick decision making (both ways)
• Support vendor interactions (both ways)
• Be a communication window between Malaysia ME team and product design groups. (for technical and important PM communication only)
• Be part of daily product development plant meeting and help resolving plant issues or find answers from Engineering groups.
• Be a technical linkage of each manufacture department in plant and help remove barriers during development process
• Support ME’s on new product development & launching process, apply new technology (as needed).   
• Be part of GCA review along with plant team and challenge the team as needed. Explain PM on the considerations. 
• Support engineering groups for queries unanswered by plant PJM and their vertical.
• Help reduce phase 2 & phase 4 timeline.
• Support smooth discussion between visiting product engineers and plant.
• Report quality issues to Engineering groups and support to resolve.
• Report product development issues to Engineering groups, product management, project management and support to resolve.
• Work independently on Improvement projects and get them implemented by plant (Secondary role)      
• Apply principle-based management and create value partnerships with plant and product engineering groups.
• Follow PSBU product development process.

Requirements:

• Deep Knowledge/ work experience in Mfg. process, tool design (mold or die or assy), DFM, PFMEA etc.
• Good in Communication (Global and Local i.e proficient in English and local language)
• Should be quick learner and quick executor with continuous learning agility.
• Knowledge/experience in Product Design & Development – Preferably High-power connectors
• Good collaboration (Global and Local) and problems solving skills.
• Good in vendor interactions and assessment.
• NX CAD experience, Team center and Polarian knowledge preferred.
• Strong Engineering knowledge
• Understanding of FEA, DFMEA, DVP etc. is preferred.
• Ability to develop and meet planned schedules.
• Ability to understand customer requirements.
