It is known to have one of the biggest balance sheet banks in the world (among others) aiding it to offer 360-degree financial services to its clients.


Job description

Role Description:


  • Centralizing and standardizing accounting into global accounting hubs and sub-ledgers 
  • Implementing a standard sub ledger and general ledger for the firm
  • Replacing current Operating and Reporting ledgers, including those embedded in bank-in-a-box platforms such as Flexcube
  • Automating and streamlining accounting and ledger processes and controls
  • Addressing source data quality issues impacting ledgers in partnership with enterprise-wide data priorities
  • Aligning contractual and instrument level balances and positions with financial balances


Responsibilities:


  • Owning the definition and execution of FB&R Close and Substantiation strategy and related workstreams including operating model, process, and controls
  • Work with existing FB&R platforms, Close and Substantiation teams to identify key use cases and user stories for integration into defining the Strategic Close & Substantiation for the Oracle platform and advise on the roadmap to decommission legacy platforms, capabilities, and processes.
  • Partner with the Finance Data Initiative to coordinate alignment of FB&R and Data transformation priorities
  • Partner with General Ledger workstream to coordinate alignment of Ledger and Chart of Account design, and enablement of reconciliations and Close & Substantiation processes
  • Partner with Accounting workstream to coordinate alignment of Sub-Ledger Design Strategy, and enablement of reconciliations and Close & Substantiation processes
  • Formulating and setting strategic direction for the process, organization, and architecture for Close & Substantiation
  • Working with Financial Control, Product Control, Valuation Control, Tax and operational stakeholders to identify further transformation opportunities related to closing and substantiating our legal entities and group consolidation.
  • Participate in strategic ledger governance and lead workstream deliverables
  • Manage workstream intra- and inter-dependencies across stakeholder groups including System Integrators
  • Manage workstream level metrics and business cases including risk reduction and efficiency measures
  • Lead workstream communications, prepare and present FB&R updates to senior management forums
  • Partner and coordinate across build, testing, training, and deployment activities of Close and Substantiation and provide inputs to defining the future state service delivery and sustainment model


Areas of Responsibility:


  • Identify, develop and implement new finance processes and drive harmonization with Oracle Cloud.
  • Support the process to ensure that current and future business requirements are comprehensively mapped.
  • Ensure that any proposed solutions fit for the needs of the finance function in terms of quality, functionality and overall integrity.
  • Provide consultancy on clear expectations and acceptance criteria of the system, processes and solutions.


Requirements:


  • A high-profile role within Finance transformation with a global scope, ideal candidates would have an in-depth knowledge of financial close, balance sheet substantiation and reporting processes gained through extensive experience in a senior Controller, Finance Transformation or Technology role at or a similar institution. 
  • The role holder will be expected to provide both strategic and operational thought leadership over the FB&R transformation with the ability to lead and influence a wide number of stakeholders, virtual and matrix teams at SVP (Senior Vice President) level.
  • The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, team oriented, and a proactive problem solver. 
  • They will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex information in a clear, concise manner to various levels of stakeholders including both end users and senior/executive leadership. 
  • They must feel comfortable navigating complex and ever-changing environments with the ability to educate and persuade senior stakeholders. 
  • They will possess the ability to drive change throughout a large, global organization.
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience with global corporations and financial services experience gained in Banking or in an associated consulting role
  • 15+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance or related field in the Financial Services industry
  • Proven track record of significant Finance organizational transformations
  • Prior experience with implementation of complex global group close and substantiation and reconciliation solutions
  • Significant experience in process re-engineering / improvement design and implementation of finance solutions using commercial Cloud technologies
  • Understanding of accounting concepts related to US GAAP and IFRS standards, balance sheet substantiation, ledger, and close processes
  • Understanding of the regulatory and control environment and requirements around ledgers or a similar institution
  • Experience in building and managing diverse, inclusive, and high-performing teams
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented, organized
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for reporting and PowerPoint for presentation development


Qualifications:


  • Previous experience as a Solution Architect for Oracle EPM Cloud specialized on Oracle EPM FCCS and ARCS.
  • Good knowledge on financial consolidation and accounts reconciliation using Oracle EPM FCCS and ARCS.


Preferred:


  • Experience with SaaS enabled ERP transformations (Oracle, SAP)
  • Leadership Experience as a Process or Product Owner within a Chief Accounting Officer, Controllership and Finance Shared Services Organization is preferred.
  • Project Management certifications e.g., PMP (Project Management Professional), Agile Certifications or equivalent is a strong plus


Education:


  • Bachelors’ degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management, or related field is required; CA or CPA or equivalent will be a differentiator
