Our client is a leading utility-backed seaborne energy trader specialising in LNG, coal and freight. It operates in one of the largest energy portfolios in the world which gives it an in-depth understanding of the way local, regional and international energy markets behave. These insights enable it to help its customers increase security of supply, optimise their portfolios and improve the risk management of their assets.
Headquartered in Singapore, it has a global talent pool of about 250 people across offices located in four strategic locations: Singapore, Japan (Tokyo), the UK (London) and the US (Baltimore).
Responsibilities:
- The Finance department is responsible for all key accounting, reporting and tax matters affecting the company and for the design, implementation, maintenance and operation of financial processes and internal controls.
The Finance department is accountable for the management and oversight of the following functions:
- Settlements
- Accounting
- Consolidation reporting
- Financial control
- Financial planning & analysis
- Tax
- Be Tax initial point of contact for front office enquiries; conduct initial research into technical queries from international tax perspective
- Assist with preparation of transfer pricing documentation and APA application, liaise with external advisers
- Review commercial contracts, including ISDAs and MSAs, for tax content
- Review VAT treatment of transactions including liaising with Settlements team to ensure correct invoicing
- Liaise with Finance staff to obtain information for preparation of tax returns and tax authority enquiries and co-ordinate preparation with external advisers
- Assist in review of VAT returns
- Assist with quarterly tax accounting
Requirements:
- Possess ACA, CTA, ADIT or similar qualification
- 2 - 4 years of relevant working experience with at least 2 years in Big 4 accounting firm or an in-house tax department for a multi-national company
- Positive, conscientious, hands-on, and self-driven. Enjoy working in a dynamic environment
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work well under time pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and able to work effectively with people of different culture and at all levels
- System savvy and proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Sun/Horizon system experience is an advantage
