Technology Manager

Summary:

• Manages a team of intermediate or experienced professionals in Software Engineering.
• Establishes objectives and guidelines for the preparation of software engineering designs and working plans. 
• Creates designs for reviews and coordinates with engineering staff and other organizations regarding product and commercial software design development. 
• Provides technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers.

Position Summary:

• Fire & Security Systems and Solutions team @ HRDC, a part of the Client's Fire & Security business, is seeking a Manager experienced in the development and scaling of IoT solutions. 
• The IoT and Emerging Technology team supports Fire & Security businesses with pre-development, development, and integration of IoT platform solutions into BU Products & Systems.

Responsibilities:

• Research and development of key IoT platforms for Fire and Security Business Units
• Manage a high performing team of Client engineers with disciplines in Firmware and Software, maintain strong team performance and recruit as needed.
• Develop project timelines, manage budgetary constraints, communicate progress updates to business leaders & Engineering Leadership.
• Navigate complexity to mitigate design risks. Deliver solutions on time.
• Lead and organize development teams, gather requirements, organize testing and evaluations of and Embedded connected systems.
• Partner with Client Digital stakeholders and integrate developed systems into backend cloud andor mobile apps.
• Standardize IoT platforms across Client in collaboration with Engineering and Product management in Fire & Security business units.

Requirements:

• Experience leading and managing internal and external engineering teams and resources
• Experience with Firmware, Software and operating systems (C , C++, Python, Free RTOS, Embedded Linux, AWS Greengrass) 
• Experience with Low Power Electronics & Wired Wireless design (RS485, BLE, Wi-Fi, Lora Wan, 5G, NB-IOT)
• Experience with relevant standards FCC, UL, CSA, IEC, PTCRB for electronic device qualification
• Certified Product Owner or Scrum Master.
• Familiarity with IoT standards (MQTT, Sparkplug, AWS IOT Core)
• Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to manage stake holders and collaborate globally.

Education:

• MS (prefered) / BS in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering or equivalent with 15+ years of experience in the field or related field
