Summary:
- Lead a team of Engineers as they perform their daily duties - tracking team performance of key KPI’s, managing working load, training and development.
- Also responsible for business development, customer relation and customer project initiatives to grow the team and overall business.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for, scheduling, training and performance appraisals.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, develop, implement, and monitor departmental processes, procedures and policies; develop measures to track performance and take corrective action.
- Support staff recruiting as required.
- Accomplish organizational goals by increasing output, managing workflow, and lowering costs by providing leadership to the department, communicating department goals and production expectations, feedback and identifying and resolving problems in a timely fashion.
- Perform direct project work and conduct technical project reviews as required.
- Provide guidance on the interpretations of Standards requirements, and changes to processes and procedures to meet those requirements.
- Provide Technical advice to engineers in all aspects of test and evaluation activities and report generation.
- Participate on and/or conduct technical and industry committees, technical forums, trade shows, and seminars.
- Act as subject matter expert in defined product area.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and industry groups.
- Provide technical support to Business Field Sales; develop and maintain sales guides, review quotes and support sales on quoting.
- Respond to technical matters and inquiries of field, sales and operational staff. Resolve problems.
- Perform direct project work and conduct technical project reviews as required.

- Provide Technical advice to engineers in all aspects of test and evaluation activities and report generation.
- Acting as key knowledge leader for various product categories, driving company knowledge and business development.
- Establish and maintain professional relationship with customers.
- Consult with customer on highly complex issues.
- Liaise with other global laboratories to ensure consistency and accuracy of methods and interpretations.
- Document test results for correction actions, report and audits.
- Analyze test data and determine expected outcome for tests.
- Identify and report all deviations.
- Maintain confidentially of all client information.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities:
- Advanced engineering knowledge, understanding of testing requirements, manufacturing processes, drawings and standards.
- Strong leadership qualities
- Ability to successfully manage a diverse technical resource team.
- Ability to continuously improve test processes through the monitoring of test process efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills, possesses the ability relay complex scientific and technical information in a clear, concise, and understandable manner, verbally and in technical writing.
- Advanced analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with standards including NFPA 79, UL508A, IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1, UL 2011, EN 60204-1, EN ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA R15.06, UL 1740, SEMI S2 & S8.
- Experience with EN ISO 13849 & IEC 62061 for functional safety preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Self-motivated and the ability to work independently
- Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks while meeting or exceeding deadlines.
- Ability to travel.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Regulatory Testing training
Experience:
- 6 years of test experience evaluating products in accordance with product regulatory standards.
- Experience using automated test tools.
- Experience testing to NEC, NFPA, UL, CSA, IEC, EN Standards preferred.
- Certifications
Supervisory Requirements:
- Direct: Associate Test Engineers, Test Engineers, Senior Test Engineers and Principle Test Engineers, and / or Coordinators
