Senior Manager, Application

Responsibilities:

• Lead, Develop & Manage Application team;
• Develop and assure high level strategic competencies (e.g. Food Microbiology & Preservation, Meat Science, Bakery Science & Food Chemistry);
• Conduct application trials and in-depth data analysis to ensure that meaningful output for use in customer-sales support and business development; 
• Assure that all application trials are registered, reported, scientifically sound and used by the Sales & Business Teams to generate new/maintain existing customers;
• Setup, manage and maintain the Food Application & Innovation Lab, ensuring availability of the raw materials/chemicals, licences, equipment & procedures (SOPs);
• Assure a Safe & Hygienic environment in the Food Application and Innovation laboratory;
• Develop and Maintain an external & internal network with experts.
• Generate data & information to support the value and efficacy of internal ingredients;
• Train & Support the Internal Sales team, Internal Distributors as well as participate in Key-Customer projects;
• Represent the firm and promote it's capabilities & knowledge at international Conferences & Seminars.

Requirements:

• This position is based in Shanghai, China.
• Hold Master, PhD degree or equivalent in Food Science, Food Microbiology and/or Food Technology;
• Have at least 10 years of relevant experience in the Chinese food (ingredients) industry in managing an Application food lab and/or a team of food application scientists;
• Experience in Meat Science, Food Microbiology and/or Food science/technology is advantageous;
• Willingness to participate with the team in the application lab for 20-40% of the time;
• A result-oriented individual who is technically skilled with a creative mindset to overcome application challenges;
• A good communicator who understands and is experienced in presenting to both technical and commercial audiences;
• Strong technical writing and reporting is critical for this position;
• Have a commercial drive combined with creativity, passion, and performance orientation;
• Be a leader through examples and a sensitive & flexible team-player;
• Self-confident and self-managing, pro-active and taking initiative;
• Fluent in English and Mandarin;
• Be willing to travel up to 10-25%, mostly in China and 1-3 international trips per year.
